Under-construction as long as you're not paying attention

My work consists of several flags, using silk-satin for my printed material, which mostly I found and collected from my clothing tags/label. I elaborated with a back-story regarding where the works were made, how they were produced, and the related actions that produced some ‘other’ stories related to the history of the country. Some allusions of the work result from my further reading about the ability of a country involved in a global economic system that has some production capacity and involves all levels of society (including citizens). The work by citizens to meet their production targets not being balanced with the capacity of a country's production is the embodiment of a democratic political system that has been adopted (and is also believed to be a good road) by the state and the people (citizens). Some states even have a problem with the formation of a ‘trend’ of democracy that only lasts for a short period, after which time 'the good road' is even used to ‘erode’ the people's rights.

A Calculating Attempt with and without Sufficient Evidence for Proof

Within this work, I showcase items related to my daily expenditure from 2011 to 2014: receipts, bills, and invoices, and even simple calculating devices that measure scale, weight and size.

I would like to review the range of activities and spaces that my body goes through every day. I observed myself in the morning when getting ready to start the day. I observed myself commuting, interacting with various people on the way. I observed myself back at home, or on the way home, after a hard day’s work in Jakarta.

By observing myself and other people, I discovered a number of possible narratives on domestic issues, education and assimilation processes that form a class system. I realized that today’s society tends to dramatize social and economic background as a strategy to survive — especially when someone feels they need to work hard in order to enjoy what other people can enjoy so easily.
